A FAMILY TRADITION ~ MAKING PIZZELLES!

Starting with my grandmother from Italy, to my mother and myself, pizzelles have been a Christmas tradition on our holiday table. This sweet treat is a cookie with waffle style details, thin, crisp and delicious! Flavored with vanilla, anise or almond extract, this lovely cookie is always enjoyed by all on the cookie tray.

Today was my day planned to make our holiday batch. No quick session, for pizzelles are made on an iron similar to a waffle iron and only 2 at a time. As the process continues, you get a momentum going and along with Christmas music in the background, the cookies add up. A usually batch per recipe is 60, but I normally double the recipe because as you would guess, 60 goes fast when this treat is presented. So 120 pizzelles was the order of the day. I took a few pictures to share with you the process. I only wish you could taste them too. OH SO GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Two designs one on each side!
Filling the tins for giving and storing! Now it is time to clean the iron and put it away for the season. So glad you could join me for aother year of a family tradition~~ Making PIZZELLES

Thank you for your visit. Have a beautiful first day in December.
Blessings, Celestina Marie

Oh my Celeste that looks like so much work but I'll bet your family really appreciates them. The design is beautiful and almond would be my favorite just in case you feel the need to make any more.

I love those things! I truly did not know that you could buy an iron like that, however! I have this rosette thingy that you dip in the batter and drop in the grease. Yours seem a lot easier.

Hi Celestina Marie,

What a lovely tradition making the wonderful cookies. They look like pretty lace and I bet they taste so good. Yumm! Sounds like a lot of work, but listening to Christmas music would be fun.
My daughter and I always make Christmas cookies and it is so much fun.
Happy December, dear friend and I hope that the days ahead will be lovely.

Hugs
Carolyn

Dearest Celestina Marie,

Loved to buy those at Costco but these home made ones, with their background story are so much more PIZELLE! Thanks for sharing this.
Did put my Italian silver Christmas balls out yesterday inside a moss clad wreath; love them in our kitchen bay window.

Enjoy your Christmas season!

I love Pizzelles and my cousin still makes them! I am fascinated watching her just as I was watching the older folks as a child! Love the flavor.
