Creating Vintage Charm

Art and Design for Pretty Living~

Several months ago, I was asked by contributing editor, Cindy Adkins of Creating Vintage Charm Magazine to tell my creative journey in an interview written feature with photos.

This lovely publication arrived at my door this week and within pages 10 and 11 of the Winter 2012 issue is my little story of my artful journey over the years.

Editor-In-Chief, Sonia Crouse, creates a beautiful publication offered quarterly and available on line for purchase.
Inside you will find Cover Stories, The Marketplace, Meet The Artist, Gift Giving, Gallery, Inspirations, At Home, Events, Free Cut Out Images and more including beautiful photos.

Here is the link if you would like to order a copy.
direct from Mag Cloud or visit www.CreatingVintageCharm.com
It was a joy to work with Cindy Adkins once again on this project. She is a very talented artist and author publishing many books on Amazon, and not surprising, best sellers all.

Recently I popped in our favorite red bullseye store (Target) and found these darling ornaments made from woven wood in whites and natural colors.

Not many left and one lady wanted the natural, so in the spirit of the season, I wanted her to have those and so I only got the white in a star and heart. Back to the studio they came for a little redesign. I added vintage hem ribbon, glitter, silk flowers, embellishment gems and of course glitter. These little treasures will be a gift soon if I can part with them. I don't keep much, but once in awhile I have to have a treat!!
Thank you for stopping by. As always, I enjoy your visits, comments and welcome new followers. Have a Merry Day!!!! Hugs, Celestina Marie

Winter White Dreams

There is nothing better then enjoying and being home for Christmas. I love this book for it's inspiration and gorgeous photos. Each year I read it again and always see something new and beautiful.
Hope you enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving. Can you believe Christmas is just a few short weeks away? Time this year has flown by. I bet you are decorating your homes. Over the next few weeks, I will share my home and decor for Christmas.
For nearly a year now, I have been working on my living room redo adding cottage creams, white and neutral color for a calm relaxing sitting room. The fireplace and mantel are the main feature and the rock is white so getting back to a lighter look was my focus.

Earlier, my dear hubby and I painted the walls a darker neutral with chocolate curl under the chair rail, but after living with it for some time, it just was not working, so repainting was in order.

This time I used Heirloom Lace and the softness and color is just plain yummy!! It was fun to decorate this room for Christmas.

I have a tiny white tree here in this room, but my main tree is in the dining room window which is in the front of the house. I will share those pics on another post. Till then, here is a bit of the redesign over the past year and the decorations for Christmas.
I found this dear Santa at a thrift shop. He was in real need of some TLC so home he came and after a redesign and freshen up, he stands with new life on the hearth.
Another gorgeous Santa on my very vintage side hutch was created by my dear friend Marie from Creations from Marie Antoinette and Edie Marie's Attic. This pretty white Santa is dressed in white and pulling a gorgeous swan holding lots of holiday treasures. Behind are white glittery trees. He is so handsome and right at home. Marie is a very talented doll designer. Stop by and say hello.
My beloved piano got a makeover too and painted white. This treasure has been in my life since I was a little girl. Recently, I found a book of Christmas music from 1945 and just loved the arrangements. This great find looks wonderful and ready to play all through the season. I am sure it will be a source for some great sheet music creations too.
Joining today Blissful Whites Wednesday.
Thank you for stopping by. Your visits and comments are always welcome.

Wishing you winter dreams and love for the season.

Merry Christmas with Blessings,
Celestina Marie

Let it Snow~

Each Christmas I enjoy displaying this tiny snow village. In fact, I like it better then the larger village I have displayed for years and spent more to own. This one has sweet little cottages that measure about 3-5 inches tall.  Most are collectibles from the thrift shops, dollar stores and garage sales. I repaint them, adding snow and glitter, giving them a little face lift.

This season I decided to place this darling little town in the vintage cabinet that I have in our library family room. It is fun to set up and the lighted cabinet shows it well.
This cabinet has 3 shelves and I fill all with these darling buildings, trees, snow and a few tiny people which I am always on the outlook for to find them this small and scale for the cottages. I cover books with cotton batting to create little hills of snow.

I would love to live in a village like this, and just for the season, I imagine being there walking the snowy little lanes and building snowmen in the front yards. This all reminds me of childhood memories living in the north. Gathering at the little church and grocery shopping at the town grocer.  The school is located next to a barn where the children learn about farm animals and explore the outdoors.  This village even has an art shop where I would spend a lot of my time.  Come join me and visit this dear little town. We can stop at the Tea shoppe for tea and then browse the bookstore or gaze at the pretty gems in the jewelers window. Santa's Work Shop is located in this town and we may even see him ready to go down the chimney on one little cottage.

When we stopped in the book store, Santa was reading a story to a little girl.
We passed some children making a snowman and their sweet dog was waiting patiently to add the broom.
We went to this little church for a Christmas service and outside carolers were singing beautifully.
Thank you for visiting my little village. Hope you enjoyed strolling with me across town and welcome back soon. Merry Christmas Hugs, Celestina Marie
