TRAVELING SOUTH~

to Schulenberg, Texas. Yes, blog friends, I took a few days to travel with my best guy south. It was work days for him, but a little R&R for me. I got to take a break, shop, sight see, and just be~~~ to regroup and revive for the holiday rush upon me!

As we drove along, on the most beautiful Fall days, I could not help thinking once again, how gorgeous our country side is and how God's hand touches it all. From typical Texas farmland and barns, to bales of hay spotted along the acres of open fields.
It was perfect timing to get away and it is incredible how just a few days can leave you rested and ready to tackle many tasks once again.

Schulenberg is a small town of approx. 2000 plus folks and some of the nicest people you will ever meet. Small quaint shoppes, the best restaurants and beautiful landscape all around. I was right at home and enjoyed every little minute.
Come share in a few pics I took during the week.

To start with, this is the view I woke to each morning. Simply gorgeous!

However, before that view, this was the country along the way.

Beautiful right? The river above is the Colorado River.

Then, of course the shopping was so fun. I visited some sweet little antique shoppes with wonderful vintage treasures.

Miss T's Boutique was so cute and even painted out the pink carpeted steps to greet the guests.

With Best Guy as my tour guide having been here many times for work, shared with me all the wonderful restaurants including Franks which has been in business for 80 years. It was incredible and the food was fabulous. Including the lemon pie. Oh my!!

The famous sign!

Kountry Bakery was another wonderful spot for morning coffee or tea. Okay, the baked goods were again fabulous.

When our time in Schulenberg came to an end, we then traveled back north passing through La Grange, Texas which had some of the most beautiful Victorian homes.
Here are just a few beautiful homes we viewed.

As we continued homeward bound, we stopped in one of my favorite little towns. Salado, Texas. Here we visited, quaint shoppes and beautiful sights. I was so inspired to return to the studio from all the special art and decorating ideas I gathered while here.

Beautiful Salado Creek running right through town.

As we got closer to home, we passed by Willie's Place. A spot to fill up the gas tank, enjoy a meal, shop the gift store and take a rest from your travels.

Now I must say, my little trip does not end here. I found a vintage treasure at Evelyn's Antiques that I will share next time as well as the fabulous "Ambrosia Tea Room" where we enjoyed lunch.

The owners let me take lots of pictures. The decor was so inspiring and a lesson in black and white which you know how much I love. I even took a few notes and can't wait to incorporate a few ideas I gathered into my own cottage. In the meantime, I just added lots of new hand painted pretties HERE and can't wait to design with the vintage treasures I found on the trip. You will find me in the studio, and as always, swinging my paint brushes!!

So till next time, It's fun to go on a trip, but so wonderful to be home again.
I hope you are enjoying wonderful Autumn days and Blessings to you and yours always.
Celestina Marie

Celeste, it sounds truly wonderful sharing that time with Your Guy and doing so many things you both love, both in your alone times and when he was able to be with you. My Guy is retired and we're blessed to be able to have a weekly "date day". With winter close at hand our travels slow down a bit though, as it's very cold here and always the chance of snow and bad roads.
I'm anxious to see what else you have to share from your trip.
Hugs,
Diane

Dearest Celestina Marie,

You can tell by the lovely photos that you did have a blast of a trip with your best friend! Thanks for sharing that in the way you did. We ought to appreciate the country we're living in and look around for its beauty in nature and created by hard working people. The town's name sounds German... wonder if there were some early settlers from there? You also found some great food to carry you through these wonderful days together; doing each what had/could be done!

Have a great week and sending you lots of sunshine from Georgia,

Oh Celeste, what fun for you and your best guy!
I read that you were going south and got excited and thought--could it be she's coming south down my way?? lol I wish you were!
I have been convicted that I haven't called you. I have been meaning to. Really!
My sister comes in from MI tomorrow for a week then our daughter comes in the day after she leaves. She's flying over TX coming from CA. We are going to FL together to celebrate my mom's 85th B-day.
After it settles down I will call.
Your pics are great and looks like so much fun shopping and eating with your guy.
Take care, friend!
