Restful Cottage and Cup for Tea Time Tuesday

Welcome to my little cottage in the west.

When I view upon this gorgeous needlepoint, it makes me think of my own home. Not sure why, my cottage really doesn't look like this, but it does feel the way the needlework looks. Does this make sense? A cozy and inviting nest where my family can relax and enjoy the blessings God has given us. Like a comforting cup of tea in a cup from a dear friend.

This beautiful cup and saucer is not only the vessel for my occasional restful tea, but a master bedroom display with my black and white chintz teapot. I place them here when not in use, on a gorgeous vintage black tray atop my vintage Lane Cedar Chest that once belonged to my dear Mother.

Adding to the room in this way~

Getting back to the dear cup and saucer.

The sweetest of details around the cup rim and saucer.

Teamed up with this Cloisonne and brass spoon I found a few years ago.

Cup and saucer markings~

To love a black and white rose chintz tea pot. Perfect in a toile room.

Tea pot markings~

My napkin of lace is held by a little china bird from a set of napkins rings given to me by a dear friend many years ago for a wedding shower gift. They have traveled with me many times and held many napkins in many a cottage we called home.

So as I cozy up with a cup of tea in a restful teacup, I will enjoy the pages of Romantic Homes Magazine and dream~~

Of cozy cottages, restful teas and many blessings.

This beautiful needle point cottage hangs in the room I share today. I found it at a yard sale nearly 10 years ago. It was unfinished around the edging and they said was made by an elderly lady who passed away before it's completion.

It was just thrown aside with a tag of 10 cents. It broke my heart to know this. So home it came with me. I took it to my framer and she lovingly turned over the ends, framed the piece to my choosing and it now hangs on my wall in my master bedroom. In my prayers, I asked our Lord to tell the little lady, her work is gorgeous, it's finished and will forever be loved and cherished.

May you enjoy a restful summer's tea Tuesday.

Celestina,
Your teacup and saucer is so pretty, and the spoon is very unique. We recently did a post called "Tea Time", and we all have a cup of tea everyday. It is really soothing after a hectic day.

Oh dearest Celestina,

First of all, thank you for coming by the cottage; I felt your presence there and it has been so fun to open my doors to the blogging community. I have hesitated for YEARS (well, the 2.5 years that I have been blogging!) to show my home. The transformation is incredible. I LOVE TO SEE that you as well have a love for the cozy, French-inspired style that just seems to speak FRENCH to us!!! I LOVE YOUR KITCHEN and I could tell you stories about ours....but all in all, look at your studio!!! I just barely discovered last year that one of the three rooms in our basement is the perfect ATELIER, workshop for my crafting projects. In the gym room, I have my drawing table. Before I go back to school in late August, I really want to take one more day to organize everything done there; I did that once and the feeling I had to know that I actually have another functional living space is wonderful!

Your home is LOVELY and I am following you too!!!! MANY BLESSINGS OF JOY TO YOU DEAR ONE! Anita

What a beautiful post Celestina.
You weave a tale of beautiful objects and memories, all intertwined, all telling the story of a life.
And how wonderful that little piece of needlework fell in to your hands and is now finished and hanging, to be enjoyed every day as it was meant to. I am sure that lady is delighted!

Oh my goodness! The story of the little lady's needlepoint brought me to tears! What a lovely story. It reminds me that angels leave little presents for you to find and make your life happier. I am sure that she is smiling down on you for loving her art as much as she enjoyed creating it. The cup and saucer are beautiful and the spoon looks like it has always been paired with them. Beautiful blog you have created! Thank you so much for visiting! I am so glad to have found you. Now I am off to search for your pizzelle posts! I borrowed a maker this winter. I made pizzelles for the kids in my youngest's preschool class. I doused them in powdered sugar so they looked like snowflakes and brought hot chocolate for them. The kids just loved them! I have been wishing for one of my own ever since!

Celestina, that needlepoint is beautiful, and what a beautiful story to go along with it. Your master bedroom is so pretty (of course, I do love black and white toile and your "by the sea" toile is fabulous). Looks like a wonderful place to relax with tea in that charming tea cup. laurie

Dearest Celestina Marie,

You are such a special lady with a big heart and an ability to see through things... Guess that's your artist's eye! First of all I love your Mother's cedar chest and the black tray. Emitting such a great taste and calm for your room.
The story of the needlepoint is the most touching though and it does reveal the most about you! What a shame for putting it up for 10 cents... That lady must have smiled in heaven when you rescued and finished it with such a fitting frame.

Lots of love,

Mariette

Celestina Marie,
I LOVE the needle point but your bedroom is a show stopper!!
So very pretty. The black and white tea pot is just so elegant. And the tea cup and the saucer with that stunning spoon is the epitome of elegance!!
I chuckled when I saw the Lane Hope Chest. I have the same one at the bottom of my bed which was my mother's also. My Dad had painted it though to match a bedroom set that they had at the time.
Loved your tea post!!

Hugs,
Debbie

Hi Celeste,
I loved hearing the story of the needlepoint. I used to do some of it many years ago. Framing it was a great idea and it looks so pretty on the wall.
Your bedroom is pretty and the your mom's hope chest is perfect at the foot of the bed.
Toile is a favorite of mine and I love the tea pot, cup and saucer.

I hope your AC is working in that Lone Star state. lol It's 108 here with the heat index. Humid as can be!
Had a great week with our daughter and family. They headed back to CA and got stuck in Dallas over night with no luggage.
They made it an adventure for the girls and all is well now.
Glad to hear you are feeling better. So happy for you, sweet friend!
Hugs!

I so agree, Celeste. It would have broken my heart too to see such a lovely piece just tossed aside. I am sure that little lady needlepointer is looking down from heaven and so happy where it has found a home - a beautiful home with a beautiful lady who loves it!

Hugs, dear friend!

Such a lovely post and it made my heart happy that you restored that beautiful piece of needlepoint and had it framed. Isn't sad that people have no vision and can put such a low value on something made with love.

Celestina, I would have snatched that lovely needlepoint as well. Makes my heart sad that they'd part with that precious piece. Their loss; your gain indeed. I have one that I'll have to post about in the near future. When I do; I'll email you to let you know so you can read it. I recently took it out of it's frame I bought it in and hand washed it, as it was soiled (no glass over it). I kind of liked it out of the frame; and put it in a basket with some yarns to make it look like it was a work in progress... You be blessed~ :)
