Welcome October With Some Pillow Talk!

This month has always been one of my favorites. So many important events for myself and family have taken place in October. So this time of year holds special memories.
Along with finally enjoying some cooler days, I love to create, as a new burst of energy happens when the thermometer drops. When I don't have a paint brush in my hand, I keep busy with other lap projects that are so much fun.

Recently, I have been crazy for embellishing pillows to decorate my Autumn cottage. I found seasonal kitchen towels from the dollar store and teamed them with vintage buttons, trims and vintage lace to create some custom pillows for my guest room, dining room and outdoor sofa.

This duo was embellished from found dollar store pillows by adding vintage buttons, lace, and trims.

With cotton Fall dish towels, I created another stripe and leaves pillow with a crocheted doily and vintage button with bottom fringe!

This pumpkin towel was also fun to create another pillow, again using vintage trims.

See how it looks on the guestroom bed~ So Autumn cozy!

Here's another pillow on a comfy chair, made from an old dress collar and vintage coat button pulled tight in the center. I love the muted colors in the fabric of the pillow.

This one was so fun to create for our patio sofa, taking a cotton with crocheted edge doily and I stenciled a rose in the center with my paints using a fabric medium for softness. To the edge, I added two end trims using vintage crocheted lace from an old worn out table runner.

For each side of the rose pillow, I embellished two quilted rust pillows using two crocheted doilies with the same pattern but different shapes and added two vintage coat buttons to the center. It makes a cozy spot on the patio sofa to enjoy the season. I also changed my sofa wrap with another quilt with colors of Autumn. With each change of season I love to wrap my sofa in a different quilt.

I hope you are greeting this month with renewed energy and Fall memories.
Have a wonderful Fall Day!

Hi Celeste!
You are so clever!!! Those pillows turned out just darling! Glad to hear that the temps are cooling there in Texas...they dropped into the 30's last night here...we kinda went from summer 90's to fall 60's in one week! But like you I do find that the cooler weather helps me create better!

Hope this finds you well! Say hi to hubby from us!

Be Blessed!

Celestina,
Your pillows are so pretty, and they add a special touch on your bed. My sister sews, crochets, and knits, and I have always thought it was such a talent when knows how to. YOUR NEW HEADER IS WONDERFUL. I really like the month of October too, not only because of the Fall festivities, but also Jess' Birthday is this month. Have a fun Fall weekend.

Celestina your pillows are so pretty! I like using the vintage doilies too. I finally got to working on my ornaments which I haven't done since the beginning of the year. I hurt my back after the holidays and have been recooperating till about a month ago, along with physical therapy. Just have to be very careful now. The pillows look so nice on the guest bed, yes very cozy.
Have a nice evening!

Lovely Autumn pillows, milady! But, what most impresses me is that you gather your supplies and actually DO the project you have in mind! I am always gathering supplies - but rarely get the time to indulge my project ideas. I really must change that this year! New resolution for 2012!
Joy!

Your home is always so pretty & cozy! I love the pillows you created. You are so talented! The Dollar Tree is my favorite store! I swear once I found the most awesome artist quality brushes there so of course I bought about 10 packs (there were 4 to a pack) and then drove back the next day to buy all of them! LOL

Hope you have a beautiful Sunday and enjoy creating in your studio!

I love the pillows, Celeste. I've seen them made with placemats too. And placemats used to make totes. We're on the same wavelength with pillows. I just bought a Crabapple Hill vintage postcard embroidery pattern and began stitching it yesterday for a pillow top. It's certainly nesting season! Did I notice your wall art is also fall themed? I take out my watercolor of pumpkins in a basket every fall too and put away the Constable print I usually have up.
Everything in your home looks lovely!
Hugs, Diane

Super fun new banner with this witch. Your Fall pillows are so perfect for this season of muted colors and warm homey cozy. I don't decorate my home for the seasons but dear Grandma did. She even changed the curtains with each season. I have always wanted to do such a thing. Happy Autumn to you dear...

These are wonderful pillows and ones that can be used. I'm a pillow maker but never tried to make on this way. Decorating background is excellent way to make more attractive.

I love the old antique feel of all of them. Though some or all may be new, the way you display them shows them off as though they came from yesteryear! Hugs. tammy
