Growing Up with Historic Influence~

Gorgeous and historic sites were as close as my backyard growing up near the designated National and Historic site of The Dearborn Inn.

Built by Henry Ford, the inventor of the automobile and his son Edsel, was designed by the architect Albert Kahn in 1931. Last November the beautiful Georgian style hotel celebrated it's 81st
anniversary.

Having this gorgeous place in my neighborhood growing up was so special and over the years my guy and I have had the privilege of staying here many times. The influence of it's grandeur always encouraged me as a decorator. Over time, renovations have taken place but the original character and style have been preserved and maintained.

Some time ago I had an opportunity to visit again and took these pics to share. From the beautiful chandeliers to the floors and the outside gardens, every inch is elegant.

Next fall we will stay in this gorgeous Inn once again and I look forward to the visit.

The reception area with beautiful grand piano. I was honored to play this gorgeous instrument while on my stay.
The keys feel like silk.

Beautiful sun rooms flow outside to gorgeous gardens.

Sitting areas and living areas  to relax with family and friends.

Stunning ceilings with grand chandeliers.

Comfortable living rooms overlooking the fireplace with a beautiful painting of Henry Ford.

Gorgeous flower arrangements
grace large gathering tables.

The Dearborn Inn,
a beautiful place to stay, visit and enjoy
the history of days gone by in a special place I called home.

See you next time.

XO Celestina Marie

Sweet Celeste!
Oh I KNOW first hand and can attest to the fact that this is a grogeous Inn. When hubby and i first came here this is where Ford put us up for the night. Then last March our neighbors daughter was married in one of there drop dead goegous ball rooms. The grounds are also sooo beautiful!
So glad you shared this beautiful piece of historical history with your readers.
Be blessed my sweet friend.

Hi Celestina!

What beautiful photos! Thank you for taking us on the tour. What a treat to grow up around something as beautiful as this. I love the checkerboard floor, the opulent rugs, and the furniture is gorgeous. Every time I am in front of a Piano, my fingers itch to play. I love that you said the "keys feel like silk"...oh I am dreaming right now! One of my biggest dreams in life is to have a piano one day. I've always loved to play.

Again, beautiful photography and story, thank you so much for bringing us this piece of History! xo

Have you been to Mackinaw Island?
I love it there!
How was the birthday dinner?
Hope you're having a good week, dear friend!

Dearest Celestina Marie,

Even though you didn't mention the State, when I Googled it turns out this is in Michigan. That was my very first introduction in April of 1983 I went to the Henry Ford Museum in Michigan with some Campbell's Soup staff member. Lovely hotel indeed and for the USA those are treasures with historic value as we have so little yet.
Europe of course knows hotels that are ages old. Let's hope people in this nation will preserve it, like you said they did keep the original character and style of this gorgeous hotel.
Thanks for sharing; I love historic things!

Love to you,

Mariette

Such a grand place. I love those black and white floors! The fireplace is cozy, and those chairs are so elegant. You play the piano, Celestina? I took lessons when I was young, but never followed through. I would love to hear you play. It is such a special talent, and I have always wanted to get back into it. I used to play by ear. Thanks for sharing this lovely place.

Celestina,
Thank you for you lovely comments on my blog. I am still learning about my camera. The tea picture I didn't take. It was just a picture that I came across when I was out. I wish the tea set was mine though - isn't it pretty? Thank you for your friendship, and have a wonderful weekend.

What beautiful pics to share Celeste! How far away were you from Blissfield, MI? I have evangelist friends that now live there...and they have an outreach in the Dearborn area. Small world.
