Change with a Chair

Recently I found a vintage chair while visiting one of my favorite Texas antique malls.

This one had such great bones and the perfect size for my living style sitting room.
It did have two cushions with it in great condition
and I will share those as we go along.

The tag was even in great shape and had several dates marked on it

ranging from 1923, 1926 and 1929.

Now anything marked 1926 always gets my attention

since my mother was born in 1926.
Anyway, this little beauty came back to the studio with me
and I quickly gave her a coat of honeysuckle bloom
and a light distress throughout.
When complete and dry,
I added the cushions back in place.
***
I thought about covering the fabric
but the natural style and look
has just grown on me and I decided to keep
the cushions just like I found them.
I am sure they are not the original cushions,
but I will never really know. They could be!

*****
With a good cleaning,
the cushions are like new!
This pic makes the fabric look gold,
but it is not,
just a very pretty light natural shade of ivory.

Below you see this vintage chair in it's new home.
Perfect sitting by the fireplace.
So as one thing leads to another,
I added this pretty pillow which I
embellished with a doily.
The color just brought out the natural shade of the chair.

The room from several other views.

Think I'll take a break and enjoy my
Chair with a Change.

One vintage piece can make all the difference.

Wishing you a wonderful spring day.

Till next time.

Blessings!

Celestina Marie

Great job on that chair. You embellished it while allowing it to keep its "personality" and gave it a great new life! Thanks so much for sharing!

What a great find in that chair, Celeste! I love the cushions especially the tufted one.

I just found out {since I got my booth} that here in Ohio second hand upholstery and bedding has to have a tag that says its been sterilized. Yet they have no idea what to tell me when I tell them I redo things like upholstered footstools with new batting and fabric, and that any pillows I make are made from all new material. I had hoped to make several pillows for my booth and now I'm not sure.

Your new chair looks perfect in your room. I think you made the right choice leaving the original fabric on the cushions. The room is beautiful from every angle!

Oh wow, C that is gorgeous. I love the lines of it. You don't find chairs like that every day for sure. It looks perfect for a good book or some needlework to be done. I love it. Nicely done once again. Hugs. Tammy

Dearest Celestina Marie,
It looks like you got the original cushions with it. To me they look like slubby linen cushions. In a couple of days I will launch a post about LINEN. Did you know that it is 12 x stronger than cotton? So that would explain very well the reason why they held up so well. You did an amazing job on the chair; lucky for finding such a treasure!
Hugs to you,
Mariette

It really does make the room complete and the lace embellished pillow finishes it off. What a pleasant peaceful room you've created Celeste. You are one of the most creative persons we know. Hi Celestina Marie,

Your lounge room is beautiful and how wonderful your new/old chair is.
Extra special too, that the date on the tag was the same year your dear Mother was born - must have been meant for you.
