French Antiqued Dress Form Makeover

Giving this dress form a new look
with an old finish.

Several months ago

as I updated our guestroom,

I also decided to antique the dress form that lives in that room.

inspired me for this makeover.
Visit Carol to read about how her dress forms are making her famous!
You will be inspired too.

****

I have antiqued many a treasure in my painting journey
and this form was so much fun to makeover.

Starting with a wash of burnt umber
watered down and lightly scrubbed over the form
using a cotton t-shirt.

Fly specked with a stencil brush to give a aged look.

French graphics from The Graphics Fairy.
Transfer with a blender pen and darkened with a sharpie pen.

Distressed the wood and antiqued the stand.

Crocheted collar with vintage pearls.

Added a french word sash around the waist.

Vintage lace added to the hemline.

Antiqued makeover complete.
It's amazing
what a little water and paint
can do.
Along with
French graphics
and accessories.

*****
I'll be back to share the whole room makeover soon.

Till then,
Have a great spring day.

Smiles
Celestina Marie

It's beautiful, Celeste! I love how you darkened the wording with the Sharpie. Faded is nice but these fonts are so pretty they should be seen. Love her sash!

Your dress form turned out so pretty!! love it!! I have an old one that the fabric is rotting away. I've been trying to figure out how to make her over. I wonder how hard it will be to put new fabric on her.

Oooh, la, la! Your dress form makeover is tres magnifique, Celestina! I love how you have aged her, and added the gorgeous crochet and lace trim. Does she have a name? She looks like a "Colette" to me:)

She's gorgeous. I wish we could all look so much better with intentional aging:-) Love the shoes next to her legs.

Oh C, now this is a true gem! I love her. I have an old fashioned wire frame form with a metal pole and I can't decide for the life of me how I want to do her up. I'm thinking some crepe, fabric flowers tattered.. then I switch to dress her. It'll come as the room comes together I'm sure. Yours though, so very inspiring. Hugs. Tammy
