When the Paint Day is Done~

Hello Friends~

When I'm not painting
I usually have something in my lap
to stitch or sew by hand.

It's just me to keep moving.

When my paint day is done
I pick up another project in the evening.

Here are a few things recently and a few special treasures.

You know how I love black and white
and for these pillow cases
I did the stitching in black
and then added vintage lace to the openings.

So pretty in my black toile bedroom.

************
This sweet towel is stitched with an owl.
I did not do this one as it was a gift
but oh how cute it is with the black and white.

I follow in my mother's foot steps
as she loved to do all sorts of hand work too.
This gorgeous piece she gave to me many years ago
called 4 seasons.

Winter

Spring

Summer

Autumn

This gorgeous towel
is hand created by my sweet friend
Shirley

I treated myself to this from her darling shop.
Perfect in the kitchen for Valentine's Day
and year round.
Love it~
Thank you Shirley

Lastly
I just started a new beach cottage throw
in hand crocheted broomstick lace
which will be in my shop
when complete.

I love this yarn and the gorgeous
icy artic blue color.
Perfect for spring, summer
and a beachy cottage.

Thanks for stopping by.

Make it a good day!!

I absolutely love the black on white pillow cases you made, but I am most intrigued about the broomstick throw you are making. Can you give me more information about the pattern, supplies, etc.?

I am trying to keep moving around now too. I love that pillow case. I have the same lace in my craft box. Did you do the heart embroidery by pattern or just make it up. Would love to make two for myself. Just lovely.

Oh Celeste, I just love your black and white stitched pillowcases {you know my love of black too}. The 4-seasons piece your mom did is just beautiful, too! Can't wait to see your broomstick stitch throw when it's finished...it's just going to be beautiful, I'm sure. Have a wonderful day! Hugs!

Love your embroidery, and the other things, too. The owl is so cute! It is a very relaxing hobby, and I hope I can perhaps do some embroidery too after my eye OP, that would be great! Hugs, Valerie

Absolutely gorgeous! Love the pillow cases, they will be lovely in your room. Love the four seasons piece! I used to cross stitch, and enjoyed it so much. Requires glasses now though! Your Mother has created a beautiful piece, what a lovely treasure to have in your home!

I have several embroidered pillowcase, dish towels and all what was popular back then from my Mom and Grandma. They are one of the most precious items from them. :)

Such pretty pieces, Celeste! I love your pillowcases. I used to do cross-stitch but found once I needed reading glasses it was a bit more difficult to enjoy doing it so I stopped. I do have a couple of pieces that are almost complete and I really should pick it up and finish them.

Hi Celeste!

What sweet pillowcases! So perfect for your bedroom! You did an incredible job on them Celeste. I haven't done any needlework in a long time. It seems everything else is interesting me these days and there just isn't enough time. But my dearest DIL has mentioned wanting to learn how to crochet recently so we may be starting a new adventure soon. I learned from my Mom and she learned from my Grandma.I've got to get my books out to refresh my memory! I used to like to crochet with crochet thread and make fancy doilies but it's all left my head. So I'll be digging in my studio closet for my "manuals"!

Thanks for the extra inspiration! I need it to get going on this.

Blessings & loveknots, Edie Marie

Your pillowcases are just gorgeous, Celestina! At first I thought you had embroidered them on the machine, and then I realized that you did all of that gorgeous stitching by hand! Wow, that is real talent! And that lace is gorgeous too, so perfect! Love the four seasons that your mom did. I do believe you inherited her creative genes:) Have a great day!

Your pillow cases are stunning, it's lovely work. Yes, black and white are beautiful together. The trees your sweet mom gave you are also lovely and a real treasure to have. Shirley did a sweet job on the towel but then she always does. That is a pretty soft blue yarn you are using, you always make such pretty things. My mother didn't do much handwork but my grandmother did and I follow in her footsteps. Hugs, Lu

That pillow case is just gorgeous, Celestina Marie! You do beautiful work. I don't do the handwork that I used to. I used to do a lot of cross-stitching and I remember seein that pattern that your Mom did in a book years ago...or something very similar. I did a lot of crewel work, too.

I hope you had a wonderful day. I had our little guy here today and he will be here tomorrow, too. xo Diana

It's so nice to meet you, Celeste! And thanks so much for stopping by with a very sweet comment! I had a peek at your shop, beautiful things and I love your artwork, the painting of the roses is absolutely gorgeous! And I like the blue ball jar, I'll keep my mind on that for the lakehouse we have in Michigan. What part did you grow up in? It must have been a big change when you moved to Texas! lol! I also loved the tour of your studio, so sweet and I can see why it inspires you to create.

Thank you for sharing your mother's needlework. I love to cross stitch and have made a few samplers. I'd like to get back to it. I learned to knit when I was about 10 years old (with broom stick needles!). And then over the years I let it go. I needed someone to help me with my mistakes and I knew no one who could knit!

I'm looking forward to seeing the throw when you finish it...I'm sure it would look pretty in my blue bedroom at the lake! :)

XO,
Jane
