A French Door Topping

Hi Friends,
Over the Labor Day weekend,
we got a few more little projects marked off our  my list.

Here is one I had seen in a design book and thought it would be nice in my kitchen.

The lacy iron brackets I had in my stash and  LJ  already had the wood,
along with my paint from the cabinets to make this a no cost project.

I still have a better placement to work on and gather items I want to display here,
but I placed a few just to share the pics.

The pitcher is a recent vintage find.
The vintage mold was my mothers from the 40's.

Love the iron brackets.

Just kind of completes the area.

I love looking through the french doors across the living room to the last room of the house.

I just love over the door shelves, don't you?

Since this post was ready, I added a little urn for the pumpkin giving it a lift for better balance.

Have a wonderful day and see you soon.

Celestina Marie

Good Morning Celeste! I've been thinking about adding a shelf above my laundry room window. There's not much wall space in there and I could put some pretties just like you did over your door.
I love it too. It will be a fun place for you to change up with the seasons. Your door mantel :-) Back in the 80's when country decor was all the rage ...I had a shelf over every window and door along with geese and Williamsburg blue everything. Remember those days??

Celeste,
It looks so great. It really is a great statement for over the door. Love your vignette on the shelf too. Those scrolly brackets are great and give the shelf a lot of character. Love this.

Celeste,
Your latest addition to your kitchen is beautiful. I love ledges and over the doorway is brilliant as it suddenly adds additional architectural interest. The iron brackets are a French accent that totally enhances the effect. Oh, Celeste your going to have so much fun decorating your shelf seasonally. Love your creative mind.

Very pretty, Celeste! I love those brackets. Isn't it great when you already have everything you need on hand to complete a project. I have similar doors that go from our kitchen into our pantry/laundry/garage entrance area of our condo (as well as my craft/sewing room) and then again into our master bathroom. We usually have ours open all the time, but its nice to close them, in my case, when I have laundry going and visitors at the same time.

Oh Celeste, you continually amaze me!... love your shelf above your door... and you've decorated it perfectly!... your new (old) ironstone pitcher is beautiful and I love your mama's old jello mold... now I want Jack to do one of those for me!... he'll be thrilled!... (tee hee hee, I don't really think so!)... xoxo Julie Marie

This shelf and the vintage brackets just made it all look so classy!
What a treasure to have that mold that belonged to your Mother!
I loved the soft touch in the photos! May you be blessed and enjoy the new season quickly approaching!

I love the shelf and brackets you've added over your door! I was just looking at a large pair of brackets at a local shop, but unfortunately one was damaged where it attaches to the wall. I've been looking for a large set to hold a shelf with a miniature log cabin, and I guess I'll keep looking. I love the way you've used yours!

Those ornate brackets are so unusual and a decorative feature. A lovely little pitcher too. I'm a fan of cream and white pottery as it's so fresh and clean and easy to mix and match with other items.
I appreciate your visits to my blog and your thoughtful comments!

Thank you for the many, many inspiration and beautiful ideas, dear friend.

Also, I loved seeing the door open and your piano sitting there :) Hugs to you!

I love any place where a few pretties can be displayed. Most of my doors and windows have "shelves" built into the molding, and of course, there are displays on all of them. Love your brackets too. laurie

Good evening special friend! I just happened to look at my blog before turning off the computer, and there you were!

I too have had some problems with receiving new posts via email. I think Blogger is wonky lately!

Many thanks for your kindness and thoughtfulness to come and visit. Sweet September to you! Anita

There's the decorators touch! I totally forgot about over the door decorating, I love the way it looks. And how great to have Moms mold. Girlfriend you are ALWAYS up to something....Nope no grass grows under your feet lol

I was almost going to write you as I was doing my bedroom. I was really having a dilemma over the dark wood headboard. I did not know wether to paint it or leave it, so I compromised and padded it, but I used double stick tape so I can change my mind (You will understand when I blog about it) When I do I would like your real thoughts on it as I can easily change it.
