Simple Touches of Christmas

Hi Friends~
Hope you're having a good first weekend in December.
When I  shared with you my first post of Christmas decor a few days ago,
we were at the front entryway.

Well, I skipped to the second floor and a few simple touches of Christmas
in my guestrooms.

This room is done in shades of white, cream and neutrals.

The bells are from my vintage collection and I love them with all their aged patina.

This Santa is not old, but he sure looks like some from the 40's.

Sitting atop a white pitcher, is this sweet glittery Christmas bird.

Over the summer Mr. LJ  and I took a drive out to a country yard sale near our home.
I found this great old mantel and placed it in this room.
It's been so fun to decorate.

My guests love to stay in this room.

This Santa is a carved wood figure that I painted many years ago.
He has lots of glitter and looks right at home on the old dresser of white.

This rose colored Santa was another I created from a decorative design nearly 30 years ago.
He is made from a 2x4 with attached arms, face and sack on his back.
I sold so many of these over the years but before I ended creating these, I decided to keep two.
I have another in red, but would love to do these again in white.

I love this cross stitch hand created and framed by my dear friend Stephanie.
Love it!

A bowl filled with door knobs and locks instead of ornaments.

All sits in a tray on the breakfast table in this guest room.

Rag Heart Wreath with a small stocking hangs from an old wardrobe.

Sitting on the bed is a creamy suited Santa.

On the built in writing desk I have a tall angel and vintage framed graphic.

My dearest treasure is this darling musical angel.
She was my  mother's and plays Silent Night.
I can still remember when I was a little girl in the late 60's my mother purchasing this little darling
for 3 dollars to display in our home.
She just loved it ~ and so do I for the beautiful meaning and memories.
She has been well cared for and is in excellent condition.
The  music box still plays beautifully.

I didn't put up a tree in this room this year.
Just kept it light and simple.

Thanks for stopping by.
Enjoy the weekend and see you again soon with more from down the hall.

Blessings!

Celestina Marie

Oh my goodness, Celeste dear....I just had a huge flashback because as a kid in the 60s as well, MY MOM HAD THE SAME ANGEL! I am about to cry....the memories are flooding back as I see this angel, and I can hear the song, and I can feel the texture of the material of the angel....my parents bought this at one of the five and dimes that unfortunately, don't exist anymore.

WOW. How God is good to give us a picture of the past through such simple things.

Your home is so warm dear friend, how I'd love to meet you. AND thank you so much for coming to our theatre event. We love to tell stories with our hands, don't we?

Such marvelous love here. Enjoy your weekend and thank you again for this flashback in time and of love. Anita

What a gift you have in your precious angel that once graced the home of your dear mother. Through memories we are blessed indeed.

Visiting here this morning was a delight in beginning my day!

Have a beautiful blessed week-end, my friend.

Celeste,
I also put Christmas/winter throughout our house. Sweet touches mean so much. I would love to stay an evening in your lovely guest room that has loving touches sprinkled throughout. The Santa on the bed is adorable as is all your Santa's. I wish I could leisurely walk through your home and visually soak up the beauty you surround your family with.

Celeste, what a lovely room! Your guest room is so inviting and serene! I'll be your guests never want to leave. Your Mother's angle is so beautiful; I know it is a treasure! I, too, treasure special things from my Mother; she passed away 24 years ago. I had china door knobs on my bedroom doors. When I saw your china knob it brought back so many memories. Your decorations are lovely! Have a wonderful weekend!

Good Morning, Celestina,
I just loved this post showing all your Christmas décor. Your guest bedroom is charming. Those vintage bells look so old and pretty. The carved wooden pink Santa you painted is so special, and I like the creamy suited Santa too. You know, I was going to have white in my bedroom, and I didn't realize that whites and creams go together, but after seeing your bedroom, I can see that it does. I love those old door knobs. Your mother's musical angel holds so many memories for you. She is precious, and she plays Silent Night - my favorite Christmas song!

You are surely into the Christmas spirit, and I loved taking a peek inside your guest bedroom. Have a nice weekend, Celestina. We are getting our tree today!

love,
~Sheri

Gorgeous décor! I loved the rose colored Santa. This looks like a Faith Rawlins pattern I also painted years ago. I still have many of the old painting books. I paint and have for over 30 years too. Sad but our painting industry has seemed to almost stop. I remember buying a new painting pattern book almost once or twice a month. Now you hardly see any new instruction/pattern books out on the market anymore. Sad. But I will never stop painting.

I'm so entranced with your bells Celestina - I've never seen anything like them - are they Christmas bells? They look so wonderful there, together like that - more fabulous, yet simple decorating ideas. I am always so very inspired by your talent!

Oh No! Another beautiful guest room. If I came to visit, you'd have to have sheets on both beds, because I'd stay one night in one room and another night in the other. This is so pretty, and I love your mother's beautiful musical angel. What a treasure that is. What a great idea to hang a mantel on the wall, and you have decorated it beautifully. And oh! A little breakfast table in the guest room. How cozy and wonderful.
