International Cafe Can Creations

Hi Friends and Happy March!

Thank you for the sweet birthday greetings,
emails, cards, calls and gifts.
You made my day special and I send BIG TEXAS HUGS TO ALL.

I'm back from my little getaway and will share more about that soon
but today,
I want to share a fun craft idea using International Cafe Containers.

A few months ago, I shared some ideas using cafe international
coffee cans redesigned into a cute keepsake boxes.

I started to work with  and sold dozens of these cans many years ago when they were metal.

Now they are made out of plastic and it was a bit more of a challenge to design with them.

However, chalk paint works great and there is no need for the normal primer I used for the metal.
This was when chalk paint wasn't even a thought or developed yet.

So after several coats of chalk paint in "Lace, my favorite color" by Deco Americana,
I painted and sealed these little gems
creating little gift or storage boxes with lids.

To the lids, I used mod podge over coordinating fabric cut to fit.
Once dry, I trimmed the lid out with lace, pearls and a crocheted flower with pearl center.

I have to say  that I experimented with decorative papers on the lids with mod podge,
but once dry, they popped right off the bendable lid.
Fabric works better and stays in place when dry.

For the lid on this one,
I used a coordinating green toile fabric like the leaves I painted with the roses.

The inside is ready to hold keepsakes,
art or sewing supplies, candy and more.

To another I added lots of lace and trims with a felt petal flower on the lid.

It's amazing how different they are to work with in the plastic
compared to the metal cans from years ago, but still lots of fun.

Thanks for stopping by.

Wishing you a great month of March.

Be Blessed!
Celestina Marie

Only YOU could take a coffee "tin" and turn it into such a beautiful creation. You truly have the soul of an artist and make the most mundane things beautiful works of art. I love them, Celeste. GREAT job. xo Diana

Your containers turned out so pretty, Celestina! I love projects that repurpose things that would otherwise get tossed or thrown in the recycling bin! They are all so pretty, it's hard to pick a favorite! The gorgeous creamy white one at the end makes me think of a wedding cake!! Good tip on using fabric instead of paper on the lids. Thanks for the inspiration!!

These are so pretty, my friend! I especially like the last one - the creams and whites look so romantic :)

I actually have a cafe can saved because of your post a few months ago when you shared the pink one. I fell in love with it and wanted to make something similar. I haven't yet, but I will show you when I do :)

Thank you for the beautiful inspiration and thank you for sharing at ROI. Hugs to you!
