Home Office Reveal

Hi Friends~
Finally, I have a post to share the finish of the home office I designed for my hubby.
If you have followed my blog,
you might remember, I was working on this home office
for my hubby who recently retired
but is continuing to consult in his field.

So with the need of a new space for him, I got to work turning a previous
guest room into an office which is right off the entryway of our home.

As I mentioned in the past post HERE,
I used rustic woods,  distressed finishes, metal and leather to get the look he wanted.
I am calling this design,
Industrial Modern Farmhouse.

The wall color is a light tan shade with off white trim.

The desk area faces the entrance to the room.

To the right of the desk.
This wood book case to the left of the desk is painted black with distress and brown for the top.
The wall art above is from my guy's previous company office
given to him as a gift.
It is under glass and hard to photograph up close.
The print is that of three Alaskan Malamutes at the top of a mountain,
and it reads~
The Power Of a Leader

True leaders are not those who strive to be first
but those who are first to strive and give their all for the success of the team.
True leaders are first to see the need, envision the plan, and empower
the team for action.
By the strength of the leaders commitment,
The Power of the team is unleashed.

This has been a special treasure and a nice addition to the room.

The above large barn wood art piece hangs above the desk and was a find from World Market.
It had a blemish on the map, which I knew I could fix
but asked the manager for a discount
to make the repair.
In the end, I got it for 60% off.
Fixed the blemish and it's like new!
It always pays to ask when something has a little damage.

The desk is designed with a metal frame, distressed woods and farmhouse style drawer pulls.
The desk chair is a chocolate brown leather with a wooden base.

Looking across the room,
I've added a small recliner, also in dark chocolate brown
and an end table painted to coordinate with the book case.
I created the pillow from some fabric in my stash used previously in my sewing room redo.
The curtains are a long 96 inch set of panels in taupe, ecru and brown.
They are designed with metal grommets for easy closing and opening.

This section between the door closet and the mirrored closet
holds another style metal and distressed wood shelf from Home Goods.
I added two fabric covered boxes with chalk board tags on the shelves
to hold and read, newspapers and magazines.

The happy plaque above the unit was a special gift
and perfect for this room.
Moving to the right side of the room,
I've added a set of distressed wood and metal shelves.

This unit holds a variety of keepsakes and decor.
You can see in the end pic with the vintage box,  the brushed color on the distress wood.
The electric candle has a cozy glow in the early morning or late nights.
The bottles hold a few green stems and wrapped in jute.
The chalk board plaque was another special gift
and has thoughts to remember in retirement.
Watch the sunrise,
Listen to the birds,
Feel the breezes,
Take a Nap.
Relax,
Sweet Iced Tea!
Looking back towards the entrance to the room.
We wanted to take out the mirrored closet doors,
but they actually help to widen the room.
I do plan to paint the brass framing on the doors to a dark chocolate brown.

The door, next to the room door, is another closet
and worked out perfectly to hold suits and clothes not used that often,
freeing up the master bedroom closet.

I found this vintage distressed large piece of ceiling tile on a junkin trip
and it fills in the area above the shelves nicely.
The ceiling in this room is 12 foot high.

Next to the shelves,
I added a vintage crock from my grandmother and painted grey.
It helps to hide the electrical outlet and wires.
Since my guy travels for his work,
I have added rolled maps to the crock and tied them with jute.
The praying hands, I shared before from another room.
My hubby created these for my parents one Christmas when we were dating.
They loved them till they passed away.
I thought they belonged in this room.

Yesterday is history,
Tomorrow is your future,
Today is your life,
Live it!
A special cross with the Lord's prayer.

This was a hard angle to photograph with the bright light coming in the window and blinds closed.
Here you can see the closet doors.
Inside serves as lots of storage and shelves to hold books and file cabinets.
Above the doors is a route 66 yard long sign.

 Going back to the desk,
I added these long baskets to the 4 shelves
to work like drawers.
I found these at the former Garden Ridge,
now renamed, At Home.
It is a decor and more store with aisles and aisles of home decorating goods.

So that's the office reveal.

Finished and moved in.
A little industrial
a little modern
and
a little farmhouse!

This room was so much fun to create
and my guy's really enjoying his new home office.

As I shared, this space was a guest room in it's past life.
I'll share with you soon how I worked some of the furniture from that room
into the rest of the house.

Thanks for stopping by to visit.
and
Welcome to all  new followers.
So glad to have you along.

Have a great day!
xo

I love everything about this room, and then to top it off, you include Emerson's quote. YES. Let us all leave a trail where there never was one or no one ever dared to go!

The colors and textures you used in this office space are just perfect for the man...my husband's is exactly the same color and tones and even the ceiling beams were left dark as opposed to the white-washed ones in the main room. Oh this is gorgeous!

Great job! I love how you were able to hide the file cabinets in your closet, and I do think the mirrors add dimension to the space. Love the tin over the bookcase especially. And you've arranged the space with feng shui principles, where the desk faces entry. Very nice!

Celeste,

You did an outstanding job and I simply love the originality in every single touch. You do not seem like one to follow trends and this is all so very unique. I know your husband must find heaps of inspiration here, from the quotes to the print of the Alaskan Malamutes, to the precious praying hands.

I am especially thrilled to see this because I am working on our den in a similar fashion, a simple sort of rustic farmhouse, a mix of old and new. I saw some elements you used that inspire me. Reclaimed wood, neutral colors with touches of dark brown, soft drapes and simple accessories. It is taking me some time but I don't want to be impulsive. I like to change up simple vignettes but once I get a room the way I want it---it stays!

Again, kudos to you and may your guy always find happiness and inspiration in his space!

Hello again Celestina marie, I`m home after a beautiful vacation with my family, and try to follow up :-)
You made a wonderful work for your hubby, creating him such a beautiful room. There are so many details that I love, like the wooden map, the tile, and happy plaque, they are all something I would have brought home, too. The industrial feeling is great and goes also so well with the more masculin room.

What a fabulous makeover Celeste! Love the manly look. The industrial and modern elements really give it the masculine feel a guy enjoys.
