Christmas in the Dining Room

Hi Friends~
Hope you are enjoying a wonderful season.
Christmas will be here soon.
Are you ready?

This year I placed a skinny tree in the window of my dining room giving more room around the table.
It still looks like a full fat tree from the outside with the curtains draped back.

I simply tied sheer gold ribbon with greens and berries to each chair.

The centerpiece is a lantern filled with vintage ornaments and topped with a red ribbon.
I set the lantern in a wreath with timer lights and a table square is angled in the center.
All easy to move when needed to dress the table for Christmas dinner.

On the hutch I added two smaller round poinsettia doilies like the larger square.

Tea pot, candle sticks and Christmas cup are old keepsakes with a special plate
given to me last year by a dear friend for Christmas.

On each side of the hutch I have hung Christmas stockings in black and gold.

The chandy over the table is dressed with lots of crystals, and vintage candle rings in silver tinsel.

Greens, berries and gold birds sit in this arrangement along with my favorite cardinal figurine.
The white metal pitcher was a special birthday gift from a dear friend filled with flowers.

In one corner, I moved this chair from the sitting room to make room for the tree.
After adding the red and green throw, I tossed this darling pillow I purchased several years ago
from Kathy at Creative Home Expressions to the chair and tied on a red ribbon with a center Christmas pin to holiday it up!! After Christmas, I'll remove the ribbon.

Across the room looking back towards the entry is an old barley twist buffet
hand painted in black with off white accents on the doors.

To make the glass holders,
I used two pegs for each glass placed close together but open enough to slide a wine glass stem between the pegs for hanging.

On the buffet I have one of my favorite cards framed and hand created by Diane of 1CardCreator.

To the top of the wine glass keeper I have another of my 2X4 Santa's
with a sweet little mouse full and exhausted from his apple treat!

My dear grandmother gave me this sweet candle holder before she passed away.
I love it even without a candle.
He's taking a little nap after stuffing himself full of  an apple.

From the dining room you go right into the kitchen and here I hung a small pair of skis and poles
from the hanging candle lamp.
These faux candles come on each evening and glow for 5-6 hours. Love them
all over the house!

To the right before going back into the sitting room, stands this large Santa.
He holds his little lighted tree and gift package.

He wears a velvet coat with faux fur trim
and each side is beautifully embroidered  with roses.

Below is a few ornaments from the skinny tree.
This year I used a collection of more critters mixed with
special keepsakes, vintage ornaments and large red roses.
The center box of chocolate ornament was a gift from a dear friend several years ago.

Friends are like fancy chocolates.
It's what's inside that makes them
IRRESISTIBLE.

Thank you for stopping by to visit Christmas in my Dining Room.

I'll be back with a little kitchen Christmas next time.

Have a wonderful December day!

Celestina Marie xo

Entering to Christmas

Hi Friends,
Well I know you are all decorating and decking your homes for Christmas.
It has been so much fun to visit and see your decor and the wonderful creative ideas you share.
I too have been up to the same and finished with a little Christmas in every room.
Many things I did not bring out this year, and many areas of my home I changed in new ways
and
when it comes to posting, where to begin??

So I will start right at the entry way and the front door.
This is actually after you come in.
I placed a berry wreath here with bells on the inside.
I'll share my porch in a later post.

This is the first thing you see when entering.
I change this area with the seasons.

This woodland Santa is one of my favorites and I have had him for years.
He stands in a wicker sled filled with little gifts and forest greens.

Next to the sled, I have a pine cone tree I created many years ago.

To the bottom shelf is a vintage tub filled with poinsettias.

Hanging on the window mirror are 3 vintage snowflakes hand created
by the mother of a good friend.
I cherish these treasures.

Across the entry by the door is a cluster of woodland trees.
Topped with a rustic bird, deer antlers and cardinal birdhouses.
I found this special wooden bird in Roundtop, Texas this year.
It is wrapped in grapevine with a leather wing.

Sitting on a wooden sled with metal antler runners is my golden deer.
He is so special and greets all who enter.

Each rustic bird house has a little cardinal peeking out.

There's more to the entry, but I'll share it in upcoming posts.

In the meantime,
my inspiration this year comes from a beautiful work of art I found for my sitting room
It is a painting by Dona Gelsinger from 2001.
The colors and theme just stole my heart.
Santa taking the time to stop and bring some treats for the woodland critters.
Isn't it gorgeous?
I love the deer, bunny and squirrel waiting for a treat.
Santa opens his bag of gifts to share apples along his way.

This hangs over my sofa and I will share the rest with you next time.

Thanks for stopping by, see you soon.

Blessings
Celestina Marie

Let The Decorating Begin

Okay, I know we haven't even celebrated Thanksgiving yet,
but I decided to start early to enjoy the season.

No rushing around and missing the joy of the holidays.

The lights will go on Thanksgiving evening.
I usually start decorating the day after anyway.
The difference this year, I will relax
and the work complete.

Well, it's really not work to me since I love to decorate.
But you all know how we spend days decorating
to bring the joy of Christmas to our homes, family and friends.

Over the weekend~~

Down from the attic
came all the tubs of Christmas.

There's more~

And Santa was awaken from his slumber.
Oh he lost his glasses,
I'm sure there here in one of these boxes.
He doesn't look to happy~~~
He thought he had a few more weeks to sleep.

Ornaments will be ready to shine and enjoy.

Mistletoe  to be  hung.

Wreaths to hang and welcome visitors.

Pine cones to gather.

Cards to write~
Shopping to do~
Projects to create~
Lists to make~
Baking to do~
Cleaning and washing and on and on and on~

Do you see why I am starting early?
I promised myself to keep it simple,
no rushing,
just enjoying~
No over the top craziness!!

Do I hear an Amen????
Anyone else in the spirit yet??

See you again soon
maybe,
I'm not rushing! LOL

Be Blessed

I'll be back to share these
dress form ornaments
next time!

Hugs,
Celestina Marie
