Reversible Outdoor Placemats

Hi Friends,
Are you glad it's Friday?

Yesterday I stenciled a set of 4 place mats for our outdoor patio table.
The table has a top with tiles in a sand color and I added a few extra terra cotta tiles left from our
inside floors to tie the look together as you walk outside.

Last Fall I found this set of four place mats perfect for the season
with a animal print background and sunflowers.
I think I found these at Home Goods.

Sure wish I could have purchased 2 more for when we sit 6 at this table.

Anyway, the  backside was a nice burlap.

So I decided to make them reversible with a design for the season.

I started by measuring and stenciling this design to the center.
I had this one in my stash for a long time and I liked the flower style design
for the idea I had.

I used acrylic paints to do all the details.
I did not mix the paint with fabric medium this time
because I didn't  need a soft application.

Then to each side I added another design of a flower stem and leaves
using the stencil in reverse for the right placement.

Next I added a terra cotta flower to pull together the color of the tile
on the table and patio floor.
With the blue of the pool this terra cotta color is a great coordinating accent.

So at this point it looks like this below.

It's okay, but doesn't really look finished yet.

So I added a little off white sand color with another flower and added dots.
Dots can always make a design look complete.

After all were dry, the 4 place mats look like this on the table.

Love the look with this pillow I found recently at Kohl's.

They were having a half price sale and I loved this pillow and knew the color would be perfect.

Up close you can see the flower is created in a crewel work design which
gives the pillow a handmade look.

So that's it~
A reversible set of place mats.

Hope you all enjoy a great weekend.
See you soon.

Blessings and Southern DayDreams
