Saying Goodbye~~

To the old Cypress Trees and Magnolia!!
If you have followed my blog for any length of time, you know that my best guy and I are always working on one project or another, and sometimes many at once. It is just what we love and enjoy to do with our home, which we feel is a gift from God to take care of.
Last Spring we re-landscaped one side of our backyard and this year the back area was next for attention. Trees had to be cut down in order to move forward. Cypress, old Photinias and a very large Grand Magnolia had seen their days, grown very old and needed removal. Sad, but necessary. So Goodbye to the lush green very tall overgrown trees and hello to a fresh new start.

We started by cutting down 10 plus trees across the back.

After 3 long days of endless work and planning, we look something like this now.

Small plantings with room to grow and easier to maintain. As you can see, we did leave 3 trees for an anchor and arranged the smaller new bushes and shrubs along the retaining wall.

The bubbler pots are so soothing to sit by in those pool color blue chairs.

The above table is a birdbath that BG turned into a table, adding a glass top and electrical power inside for a soft light at night. The light shows softly through the shells placed inside. A cozy evening spot to visit and enjoy the water sound from the bubbler.

A little paint to freshen the potting bench my dear son made for me one Christmas as a surprise. I have enjoyed this piece more then I can tell you and it comes in so handy when gardening. Next to the bench is the old vintage window and flower box I painted last year. I never took it down over the winter and it still looks just freshly painted.

Tucked among the foliage are my favorite garden angels.

Lastly, I freshened and painted my iron bistro table and made some seat cushions with small back pillows.

Now~~ I'm not done yet. Next is to freshen up the patio area which I will share that project for another time.
Before I go, I will share and show you a new lapghan I just finished for my toile studio. On hot summer days, with the AC cranked up in there, it gets really cold. Do you think I can keep paint off this pretty? I'm going to try.

Back to the studio for me. See you again soon.
Blessings always, Celestina Marie

Your back yard looks so inviting to come for a visit. I like the way you made everything so comfortable looking the chairs with the back cushion. Thank you for sharing, It is always a pleasant surprise to see what you have been doing. I spent my Sunday in the yard being it was not raining. I don't usually do that, but I could see no other way. My neighbor's brother helped with some of the cutting. At least it looks like someone lives here. Have a wonderful day.

Hi Celeste... oooh, everything is so pretty! I hate saying goodbye to trees (or anything or anyone for that matter) but I know sometimes it must be done... I love how your pool area looks and all of your pots of flowers... your potting bench is so cute, I would love one like that! I too love the sound of water outside and hopefully I get a little fountain of some kind for my patio this week. All of your garden angels are so pretty... it looks so serene, I could just sit out there forever... xoxo Julie Marie

How gorgeous! It was 86 here today and boy does the pool look fabulous to me for a dip! Where did you purchase the bubbler or did you make it? I'd love a water feature here, but nothing like a pond or such. I have to tell you that every day your sifter that you painted is such a joyful sight to me! i hope to remember to post a picture this week, I love it! My birdhouse sits about my computer and also brings me such joy! Thank you for the wonderful cards also!! I can't wait to purchase again! Lori

Celeste, it all looks tranquil and inviting. But I know what you mean. It's so sad to have to cut down trees. We've had to do the same and Mother Nature took out a huge willow a few years ago. Last winter a large branch broke off of one of the two remaining.
Enjoy your summer in that gorgeous pool!

Diane

Your pictures are beautiful. When we moved here we had to cut down several trees too, but ours were diseased.

This year we are going to reside our home. Can't wait to do that.

I know how you feel about getting rid of trees. I am a tree hugger myself! We had to cut down a beautiful evergreen because it was in the way of the red maple and not letting it grow.:(
I love your pool!!! OOOOOH can I come over to swim?? I love being by a pool or lake or ocean. It is one of my loves in life!!
Have a great week!

Hey Girfriend,
You probably think I have forgotten you. lol I haven't! Just been busy, like you, I'm sure.
Congrats on your new boutique!!
I wish you great success with it!

Your backyard is amazing! I feel your pain. We've been working outside for over a week now and are about done. Whew! We re-landscaped the front.
It had gotten overgrown in the last nine years.

Enjoy that pool and relax.
It all looks wonderful!
Talk to you soon!

Yikes, what a job you have undertaken! My yard and gardens have been so neglected the last couple of years, I'm afraid to dig in. I may get swallowed by the foliage. You gave me some inspiration, thanks.
