IT'S A SNOW DAY!

Yes, it's a snow day in Texas. With cold temps, sleeting rain and flurries, this was the look from my studio window.

Later accumulating to this~~

Okay, I know you are saying, that's not much snow. I agree having lived and growing up in the north, but for us, this is something in the lone star state and such a cozy sight it is.

So what does one do on a snow day? You probably already know what I might plan.
Paint, design, decorate, cook, read, dream or all of the above?

Okay, let's put on some background music to warm the air.

Make a pot of chili.

Count my many blessings.

For the warmth of Home Sweet Home.

Let my little mouse sleep.

Enjoy a pot of tea.

Gather my design books with inspiration for my newest home projects and dream, dream, dream!

And reading now for my kitchen restyle!

and more books~~

ahh and more to dream with~

Then study paint chips for another bathroom restyle.

And dream of this rose floral look with this fabric on a chair for my living room and the sofa with the other.

Every year after the holidays, my designer blood boils to decorate and restyle some area of my cottage. So this winter, painting a bathroom, upgrading my kitchen and sprucing up the living room are in order. I have gathered all I need to do the work myself and with my sweethearts help, we are anxious to get started. I will share pics along the way with before and after when complete. I love decorating with treasures I already have, including a little paint and flea market finds.

So with Spring around the corner, this is the way I spent this snow day and loved every minute planning my home decorating projects. The cozy and relaxing day gave me the time to rest my painting arm a bit more and with this rest, little by little, it is feeling much better. I will be back to swinging that paint brush full steam soon!

Oh I hear Miss Beazy at the door~
She is dusted with fresh snow. Shake, shake Beazy, before you come in!

Well, she did not shake, so with beach towel in hand, I dried her off and she is happy to be back inside.

Now before I get back to my snow day and decorating dreams, I will share a few Spring inspirations I placed around this snow cottage.

Thank you for stopping by and blessings be yours this beautiful winter day.
Hugs from Texas,
Celestina Marie

Sounds like a heavenly day Celeste! I'm sure you're laying the creative foundation for some glorious projects - can't wait to see the progress over these next weeks and months!

And as a native Texan I can say "amen" about being excited about the snow! Even living in Colorado for 8 years didn't dampen that enthusiasm, though I never got the hang of driving in the stuff! :o)

Enjoy your planning and dreaming...and rest that arm!

Hugs & Blessings,
Becky

Celeste Governor Mark Sanford closed all state agencies today here in South Carolina due to weather conditions. I can't tell anything happened by looking out my front door...LOL.
I plan to spend the day sewing.

Sounds like you are really enjoying your snow day Celeste!... your chili looks so good, yum!... I love all of your little touches for Spring, all the little birdies and nests and your little sleeping mouse is the cutest ever!... the rose fabric you will be using is so beautiful, I just love it... and I too could spend hours upon hours pouring over decorating books, and you have so many nice ones. Hello Celestina, my sweet friend, we have snow here in Kentucky too, but we have it a little more often than you do in Texas. I work from home and am so lucky to just look out the window while I am working and don't have to worry about driving in it. Like you, I am thinking about making my home very comfortable and cozy so I am working on some plans of my own. I have purchased paint for my bathroom which I will hopefully get done this month some time. i will look forward to your pictures as you make progress on your progress. I have enjoyed your post and now I think I will go and make some chili.

I laughed when I saw the snow! I always thought Texas was such a hot climate. I was there in December one year and it was in the high 70's and I was loving it! Not much you can do about it though, so your ideas sound wonderful. I put out my Valentine decorations and have been cleaning like a maniac. I want to get my Spring cleaning done by Lent. I would love to paint the kitchen and the living room and re-do, but that has to take a back burner.
My birthday is Friday the 14th so I am planning on doing NOTHING that day!LOL!
I need some inspirational decorating books....any ideas?
By the way, I have the exact same tea set you are showing in your Winter Romance blog. Only, mine is red instead of black. I knew we were soul sisters!!
Have a cozy relaxing day in your part of the world, Celeste.
(um, as an after thought, we are in single digets here, brrr.)

I don't blame Miss Beazy for wanting to come back inside. I'd rather look at the snow from inside too. Although I love having it on the ground all winter. As long as I don't have to shovel it or drive in it and can stay warm!
The chili looks delicious!
Hugs, Diane

Sounds like you had a wonderful snow day! I love the book about the old world kitchens - I really like that look - always have but have never lived in a house conducive to it. Perhaps a sort adaptation/melding is in order?
I will certainly look forward to seeing what you and your sweetheart do . I am always inspired by your ideas and sense of design!

Hi Celeste,
Just got back from CA. Stopped in Houston each way. Last time it was Dallas.
Came back to snow galore. Very rare in SC. Shut everything down, including school and mail. They may have school tomorrow but sure. It has been out four days.
I can't wait to see or hear about your kitchen update. Anything major?
I'm trying to catch up on everything and haven't thought about projects yet. Just got Christmas packed up this week. That felt good. lol
Looking forward to keeping in touch more.
Hugs friend!
