As The Remodel Continues~

What a difference a week makes in the cold days of winter. We are finally warming a bit and just in time for our neighboring city of Fort Worth to be host to the 45th Superbowl. As the sun smiled upon us, the ice melted and the thermometer warmed.
However, "not so fast" says Mr. Winter, "I am not done with you yet." More wintry mix expected this week. Well, so it goes. It is February after all and it is still better then the storms that most of the country experienced this season so far.

So as the flurries continue, I am staying busy and working between studio and home to complete many projects on my list.
As you know, our kitchen remodel is underway and coming along nicely. The counter tops of granite are being finished and while this is on going, I have redesigned two furniture pieces to compliment the new look.

The large and very dated ceiling light box is down also and new chandelier lighting in place. What a big job. But thanks to my guy's electrical skills, we have light and the fixtures are awesome. I will have pics to share of those soon, but for now, here are a few of the process.

On one side of my kitchen near the fridge, I have a corner cabinet hutch that is definitely old world in nature and in need of a makeover. So it went from sage green to a gorgeous cottage cream. I accented the shelves with tea stained vintage lace, trimmed and altered baskets, a few vintage treasures and a tea towel I embellished with buttons and more tea stained lace.

The Before pic in the sage green.

After Pics~

Another little redo, is my step stool redesigned with vintage roses on an old world style background.

On the far side of my kitchen, near the table, is a built in hutch that was also sage green. It too received my new cottage cream, fabric and trim on the inside back wall, vintage lace on the shelves and glass roses on the upper glass doors. On the bottom doors I painted the carved wood accents and bottom feet to look like a free standing piece tucked in the inset. The inset is painted a gorgeous chocolate curl to accent. I am in love with this combination.
Here is the before pics~

The after pics~

And, of course a few inspirations~

So back to creating I go and hoping for old man winter to change his mind about giving more cold temps with snow.

Everything you showed us - the pretties you painted, look lovely and will be a beautiful addition to your on-going projects around the house!!

I remember what a wonderful room it is in your beautiful home... such a warm comfortable space. I can hardly wait to see your finished space.

Thank you for the birthday wishes. I'm turning 62!! And I hope to do a bit of traveling after this spring. I plan to visit Marie in May... I'm so excited! Wes will be going with me to meet Bill. And see the incredible peacocks all over her place... a bit of paradise.

Hi Celeste, as always, I never know where to begin... you show the most beautiful, inspiring things... I love your little corner hutch. I also love how you have decorated your baskets and filled them with your Blue Willow, doilies and such... I want to try that with some of mine... I also love your little step stool with the vintage roses painted on it... and Miss B looks comfy and warm all wrapped up in her blanket... we had a houseguest last night... a precious little stray I posted about who spent the night... I will try to find her owner today, but I love her already and want to keep her... I think she and Miss B would be best friends too!... love to you... xoxo Julie Marie

Looks fabulous so far Celestina and I am really looking forward to the final reveal!
Your cabinet re-dos are so pretty - love sage green, but your new cream colour is lovely too. And I completely understand why you would want the light box down. I have never liked them at all but thankfully have never had one in my kitchen - just a home office so it's not so bad. It must be exciting for you as you move along and see the changes!

Celeste, everything's looking beautiful. You'll enjoy using your new kitchen so much when it's all finished! A lot of work isn't it! So worth it.

"Someone" in the first photo is very lucky to have two "parents" who give her a nice soft blanket to snuggle under on a winter's day!

Celeste ~ Your kitchen will be fabulous, like everything else you do. The cupboards are both just beautiful & your stool is just gorgeous the way you recreated them. I love those roses.

You are so blessed with such a wonderful talent.

I'll be back soon ... have missed you.

Stay warm ...
