~Covered in Ice~

Yes we are covered in ice with freezing temps.
Hello Friends!
We woke to 14 degrees this morning
and I do not ever remember this bitter cold
here in Texas.
Thursday night the sleet began covering roads
and everything in sight.
With the temps continuing to remain low
there is no chance of a thaw yet.
So many are without power, but we are thankful
to remain with electricity.
However we have a generator ready to go just in case.
We learned many years ago,
having lived all over the country~
it would be a good idea to have one
we have used it many times.
I finally took a few pics through the windows
and a few with my phone.
Look at this one, it looks like a white sandy beach before the water.
Well, it's actually through the window
overlooking the outdoor patio table
then, the ice
next, the pool water.
It's hard to see in this pic
but our large Oak tree is
covered in ice.
We are so thankful it did not fall.

This is the front yard,
all solid ice.

Out the back door this ice
is about 10 inches thick.
When you walk on it
it never even crunches or cracks.
I know, it looks like snow, doesn't it?

The roses out my studio window,
again covered in ice.

And these rose pots on each side of my driveway
have hanging icicles.
It really is pretty
for the season.

The roads are still bad
and will not improve till we see some warmer temps.
I know many of you have it much worse
but for us here in the south
this is unusual.
I don't remember it ever being this cold.
For now,
we are staying inside and enjoying the Christmas décor.
I will have plenty of Christmas to share in the days ahead
and plan to try and post each day till Christmas.
Hope you can join me.
Stay warm and safe whatever your weather.
Celestina Marie

I don't know what the temps here are. But I heard it won't be above freezing for weeks. Yuk. I hate the ice. I'm terrified of falling. So I'm not even taking the trash out.

It looks like you are here in Ohio, Celeste! We had a mix, then snow all day yesterday. I'm sure whatever is melting from the sun will refreeze tonight. More is supposed to come tomorrow! I hope the rest of the week shapes up because I need to get out and get the rest of my gifts.

Crazy weather everywhere. On Thursday it was 53 here and now we're back to low 30s which is typical.
Stay warm, the generator is a good idea for emergencies.

Wow, that is alot of ice, Celestina! That does look like sand in front of your pool. I hope your roses are ok with all of that ice. So glad you didn't lose power. Keep snug and warm:)

Hi Celestina Marie,

My, that looks so cold but glad that you are warm inside your lovely house and enjoying the Christmas spirit.
thank goodness for your generator too, just in case.
Sending love and warm hugs to you dear friend and stay cozy indoors and enjoy the prettiness through the windows.

The first photo is so pretty! At least your snow and ice will melt soon...not so much around here, or not until April!
Thank you for the sweet comment on my Christmas tree!
Keep warm and staying inside is a good idea!

OMGoodness- I do NOT like ice. When I was a kid in PA we would get ice storms and the milk trucks could not get through. That meant that the cows had to be milked and the milk just dumped out back because it was only good for a set number of hours in the bulk tank.

You really got more than your share this time, my dear! Please DO NOT send it my way! xo Diana

I hope you all be safe and your generator continues to work for you. I know how bad an ice storm can be.

What a lovely room and table setting. I can picture your family enjoying a wonderful meal and conversation.

One of my things this year is to set a lovely "Christmas" table each night. I have enough different sets of red, green, white and Christmas dishes to switch up the table setting and it just feels so nice to sit at the table each night.

Lovely Christmas House - everything is so pretty Celeste. Hope your ice goes away soon...and things warm up at least in Texas. Doubt it will warm up much here before April or May!!

We are at 16 this ice or snow. I would rather have snow than ice. Stay safe, stay indoors.
