Welcome to Christmas Dinner~ A Dining Room Visit

My Texas Cottage is
ready for Christmas dinner.

*****

Welcome to a little tour of my dining room.

This year the decorations are
red, silver, gold and white
against my black furniture and hutch.
Along with natural elements from nature.
Evergreens, holly, berries and pine cones.

Each chair is accented with wide gold ribbon
and a bough of evergreen, berries and pine cones.

The place settings are
a layering of
Royal English Plates
Winterberry
and Spode with
gold charges

The Stainless is Reed and Barton.

The goblets are vintage treasures
from my family who
worked in the glass factories
of Pennsylvania.
I love them and the gorgeous red color.
But more importantly, I love how hard they worked
in those early years of the 30's and 40's.
These glasses are a symbol of their
talent and skill,
love and determination in hard times.

Each glass is sitting on a gorgeous vintage embroidered
coaster. A gift from a dear friend.
Thank you so much!

The napkins are black and white checked, a little
unexpected but
compliment the black furniture.

The napkin rings are the ones I shared
with the tutorial in a previous post several days ago.

Above the table I hung glass crystals mixed
with berry garland.
I enjoy this year round.

Our newest addition is this hanging candle holder
my dear guy found when we were
antiquing.
It is from an old Victorian home.
Inside I use a timer faux candle.

It times on each evening lasting 5 hours on
and 19 hours off, coming on at the same time each evening.
These are a designers dream. If you have not tried them,
I highly recommend them.
No soot and danger of candles forgotten to extinguish.
I use these and the real flame style faux luminaries
throughout our home.
They can be purchased on line

Across the room is one of my
favorite treasures.
A Barley Twist buffet.

This and the above cabinet are
pieces I hand painted several years ago
when I redesigned this room.

This framed card sits beautifully here
and
is a special hand created design
from Diane of 1Card Creator.
She sent it to me last year and I framed it to use in this room.
Love it Diane.
The pic does not do it justice as the details are
incredible.
She is an outstanding talent with cards.
My hand painted hutch is nearly 40 years old
and I love to change it for all the season and holidays.
Do you remember when I painted this
a couple years ago?

On each side
I have a vintage arched window
backed with vintage curtain lace
and black velvet and gold stockings hung on each
filled with natural greens and pine cones.

In the corner is a pedestal table that holds a French Pitcher
filled with greens, berries and holly,
a special gift from my dear friend Ann, from Ann's Finds.

Inside and on the open buffet,  are a few vintage pieces.

Framed angels,
a couple of my favorite graphics from
The gorgeous crocheted piece
is a beloved treasure hand created
by my talented grandmother
in the 40's.

Mother of pearl kissing angels,
hand created over 30 years ago
by my mother.
She painted the eyelashes so pretty.

Ice candle holders
a gift from
my Swedish exchange student  daughter
when she was in high school 20 years ago.
I have a set of three.
Thank you sweet girl~

Spode cup and saucer.

This tea pot was a special
gift 35 years ago
from my secret pal at church for Christmas.
It has moved with me many times
and still like new.
It is truly very special to me.

And of course
my tall skinny tree in the front window.
I placed our very large tree in the living room parlor this year
by the rock fireplace.
This skinny tree gives more room to get around the table.
I'll come back to share a few ornaments
on this tree next time.
It holds red, silver, gold and white ornaments
along with vintage keepsakes.

Till then,
Enjoy a special December evening.

Thank you for stopping by.

Good morning Celestina, I am visiting friends this morning while I watch it snow out the window. It is so cold. I wondered if you got the ice and Pray for all of those affected by the ice and snow. Your dining room is beautiful and inviting. Strange weather we have had this year. Stay inside and stay warm. Hugs and Prayers from Your Missouri Friend.

Oh Celeste everything is so beautiful. You made me feel like I was sitting across the table from you chatting & sipping tea! Love all your gorgeous treasures, and yes, your decorations look so great against your black furniture. I absolutely remember when you gave your hutch new life with the black paint. What a transformation is was! Such a classy look for your incredible dining room.

Glad you survived the ice storm you received. That's quite unusual for Texas... I couldn't believe my ears when I heard it on the news.

We had a "Santa Claus Trip" to see our favorite Mr Claus with Sweetie Girls this weekend and had so much fun. They wrote letters to Santa that I will be mailing to the North Pole this week. The littlest one made Santa belly laugh when she said she wanted a bag of caramels and a dragon that breaths pretend fire! She makes him laugh like that every year.

Many many Christmas blessings to you & your family - Love, Edie Marie

Celeste, your home is always so warm and inviting. You know I love all the black and white and of course, the hutch. Can't pass one without taking a second glance. :) Love the glasses and the chair accents. Absolutely lovely.
Being in a transition and all, I've kept it very simple this year and did not unpack my holiday bins, only brought out a couple of items. Instead, I'm enjoying all the festive decor through my blogging friends. This was a treat. Thx for sharing.

Celestina,
I don't know where to begin, my friend. Everything looks so nice in your home. The dining room table is lovely, and the gold ribbon with evergreen on the chairs adds a special touch. I think my favorite here is the RED glasses because they are so pretty and handed down to you by your family who worked so hard to provide. The hanging candle holder is so unique, I like that as well. The black and gold stockings caught my eye, and I LOVE the angel frames.

Thank you for a peek into your home. It's always a pleasure seeing a home that is so welcoming. Stop by tomorrow if you get a chance for the "Tis The Season Blog Tour" and see some of our traditions that I've kept alive for many years.

Love,
~Sheri
