Rag Baskets ~ Farmhouse Style

Happy Monday

Some time ago
I had an idea to trim a few metal and wire baskets with torn fabrics.
As it turns out, it is very much a farmhouse style look
and so fun to do.
A little time consuming with ripping
the fabric and tying around the basket edges,
but a nice result.

Here are a few I created.

Here's one in a shabby wrap style
with my painted cottage roses.

Another using a blue toile flannel fabric
 in a wrap style.

I'm also working on
a rag wreath and
lampshade rag trims
and I hope to share those soon.

The ideas using rag trims could be endless.
It reminds me of many creations
we used to call "Homespun"
from my folk art days,
which also used torn and ripped
fabric scraps.

Styles do come around again
and this idea really has a farmhouse look
using the neutral rags
and shabby using the pastels.

Hope you found some inspiration
using fabric rags.

Till next time.
Have a great week.

Hugs
Celestina Marie

Celestina, how pretty are your baskets, the shabby one is my favorite but they are all pretty and useful too!

Pretty touch, Celeste! I have an egg basket that would probably look good with that look around the top edge. I also have had plans to do a rag wreath. I have had the wire wreath form {2 actually} sitting in my craft room for about 6 months now. : ) I also want to do a lampshade in my craft/sewing room as a rag type shade.

They are so adorable. I love the toile book by the way. My favorite basket is the blue one. Right now I would love to be working on some crafts, but for current reasons I am not doing anything.

Those are absolutely darling. I don't know if you got over to Julie Marie's today but she made one after she saw yours and hers is darling, too. When I first saw the word rag basket I thought of those we did back in the 80's where the rags were wrapped tight around fat cording and then woven together. Remember those? They were very "country looking".

Hope you had a great day- I got lots done but am about ready to call it an early night- I worked outside all morning because we have MORE SNOW coming tonight- ugh- xo Diana

So pretty, Celeste. What a perfect idea. Shabby chic has now turned a page and farmhouse is the latest trend. I myself absolutely love it, especially for its relaxed simplicity.
