My Creative Space

Hi Friends
Welcome to the 7th annual,
Where Bloggers Create.

I'm happy to participate this season having missed last year for the first time since the beginning.
Life just gets busy doesn't it?
But I'm back to join in this season,
and want to thank Karen
from
 for hosting and linking the party around blogland.

 Welcome to my creative space!

To begin,
I'll start my tour  by sharing the room in an overview.

Now keep in mind,
I've done a big cleanup just for your visit.
On most days things are a little messy and worked in.
That's how a busy studio rolls.
But I do love a pretty straightened and cleaned up space
so this ones for you and me ~~ even for a few days.

Now on with the tour~

Let me first say,
 this room is a converted 3rd car garage
and faces the front of my home with lots of natural light.

This year I've added new pieces to this space creating lots more storage which I so needed.

With a recent home office addition for my hubby, (which I will share soon)
I've  added a dresser left over from a former guest room
giving way for more storage and drawer space.
Shades of ivory with white and distress.

I also still love my toile decor and accents in this room.
Several years ago I designed this black and white toile skirt
to cover over a lot of under table storage.
It simply just Velcro's on and off to use.

Stacked painted white furniture pieces
 add unique storage and put precious wall space to good use .
Chalk board tags mark the supplies.
Vintage canisters hold gems stones and buttons.
Painted sewing drawers hold laces and trims.
Open shelves hold stamps and inks for easy reaching.

Cabinets across the back of the room
 cover the original 3rd car garage door.
These give floor to near ceiling shelf space inside.
The top holds lots of items used in creating and display.

This is my desk area above where I do much needed computer work.
Here I list and write descriptions for my shoppe,
edit photos, lots of correspondence to clients and of course, lots of  blogging and designing.
The computer is an envy touch screen and a great tool for art work.

This area is not the most romantic side of the room but essential to getting things accomplished.
The copiers assist me with designing, card making, and graphics to use on wood and fabrics.
The counter top here is one I created  in a black with veining faux marble.

 This view looks  back towards the entry of my space and the length of the room.

This year I've given a light aqua wash of color
to some of the cabinet drawer and door pulls
along with a few room accents.
It's subtle and easy to change when I have the whim.

It's fresh and light keeping the color palette in this room bright.
I like it kept neutral and fresh for creating, but a pop of color makes for some interest.

Windows run along the whole front wall bringing in lots of natural light.
I'm using eyelet lace to floor curtains that keep the room bright but add some softness.
My raised art table is from our old island top when we redesigned our kitchen.
I like to reuse what I can.
It's now wrapped in a lace cloth plastic to catch the spills of paint and other mishaps.

The island cabinet in the center of the room above, is another added piece.
It has three deep drawers perfect for lots more storage.
We can never have too much storage,can we?
The backside is flat and makes the perfect backdrop for photos of items for my shop.

This Paris black and white design accents the front of those 3 large drawers.

Facing the front of my home through the windows overlooks my front yard rose garden.

Lastly,
This sewing room
is an extension of my Creative Space
 for sewing projects that happen when I'm not painting.
It's just a short walk across the main garage and  my shop shipping area.
It's also part of my laundry room.
Here I've added another skirt for under table storage, shelves for essentials
and hung a faux timer chandelier.
The sewing table is granite in Imperial Coffee and the newest addition to this room.
The vintage chair has been covered to coordinate with the skirt.

So if we are meeting for the first time today,
you might be asking,
What does she create?

I am a Decorative Artist and Interior, Exterior Design Stager
and
 when I am not painting and creating to fill the shelves of my shop
on etsy, taking care of my family, home and garden and just life in general,
 I am decorating pretty spaces like this!

But seeing those spaces are not why you are here today.

So let me continue to share my storage and creative space,
along with the accents that inspire me each and everyday.

My designing journey and artsy path
started long ago when my first specialties were folk art.

Over the last 15 years roses and designs with a french, farmhouse and shabby chic influence
are now what comes from this space for my customers and local clients.
Many still want my cottage roses, and they are always a joy to paint.

On one of the back wall of cabinet doors,
hangs this piece I found last year at Ikea.
It is a long crocheted storage keeper with lots of pockets.
To those pockets, I added lots of trims,
accents, lace, embellishments and wood words
then filled the pockets with the treasures I use in my creations.

Glass apothecary jars hold vintage thread spools.

Painted and embellished tin cans make perfect brush holders.

Divided wood tote holds oil paints and watercolors.

Metal spinning holder for acrylic paints.
Another rose tote holding paints for easy moving.

Painted trays hold the tins and supplies for easy moving in one step
when I need to clear the table surface.

A tall table top dress form below named Lacey, just keeps me company
and I change the  accents with the seasons.
She might even wear a scarf in the winter.

Empty coffee cans are covered with gorgeous papers
 and topped with burlap flowers and tied with lace.
Empty hair conditioner jars
 are also perfect storage keepers for treasures.
Decorated with trims and filled with buttons, small trinkets and more.

Old tin boxes with a drawer pull is covered with gorgeous papers and trim.
It makes for another wonderful storage helper.

Glass baby food jars with painted lids hold small trinkets.
They can be stacked and easy to see what's inside for creating.
I fill them with small buttons, gem stones, beads, and more.

Wood magazine holders are hand painted holding  many inspirational and study books.
I've been with the National Society of Decorative Painters for 27 years.

Transferred graphic on another wood magazine/book holder
is also handy and near by for quick reference.

Pretty white vintage bowl holds old door knobs which I treasure and love for display and creating.

Burlap and lace, cover and embellish empty tin cans for  essentials used everyday.
My path resolves around art and music.
Listening to music while creating is very inspiring for me.

Pretty silk and crocheted flowers grace more hand painted can art holders.
Inside the cabinets, over my work table are shelves that hold lots of
  glitters, paints and supplies on lazy susan's for easy reaching.

Lots of chalk paint, glazes and sealers.
I use vintage salt and pepper shakers to hold glitters.

Chalk paints stacked on lazy susan's for easy access.

Past works encourage me each day.
Pieces that show where I was and where I want to go.

Old vintage trays with painted trailing antique roses.
Hand Painted ceramic storage box with lace trim hold more little gemstones and trinkets.

I also have AC added to the last window
 for the hot summer months here in Texas
and
this warm and cozy little fireplace above for the winter months.
It's so cozy to see the flame while creating.
I can even use it without the heat and just enjoy the flame year round.

Wall groupings inspire my days.
Life is a journey.

Vintage door key frames are often found among my designs.
Love thinking where these might have come from.
A door to a loved home?

Thankful for the blessings.

Another cabinet door holds an inspiration board created from cork tiles.
My easel is always ready for painting, creating and display.

Lots of design ideas are gathered and placed here to see and inspire each day.

Throughout the room I see quotes and favorite messages.
See the hanging pendant above?
That's me most days!! LOL
Especially the hair if it's raining~~~~
I love to work in the studio on a rainy day!

Above the cabinets ~ more storage and display surfaces.

This Golden Retriever drawing I did many years ago.
It reminds me of my sweet Miss Beazy, who passed away 3 years ago.
I look up and see her each day!

Vignettes high above the cabinets hold treasures and framed gorgeous cards from talented friends.
Thank you sweet friends.

Vintage spools with a pop of aqua among the light and bright.

Another favorite quote.

I love seeing dried flowers around the room,
preserved from bouquets I've received from my dear hubby and son.

Hand Painted roses and a wash with pen and ink roses are apart of the large framed work
on my paint easel.

Mother's Rose is near by on the wall
 and reminds me of the window climber
I planted for my mom before she passed away.

CREATE  banner hand painted on chalk board flags.
To the right of the banner is a little blingy and metal chandy with faux candles.
Remember this was a garage at one time, so that's why you see the door pully.

On a typical creative day, I always stand to work.
However, when I have detailed work to do, I  have to sit down.
This year, I added a high low drafting chair to help me at my work table that is raised
with bed frame risers.
I covered the seat with a small quilt hanging.

The white bed risers below raise the table to the perfect standing height.

Little treasures around the room that make it my own.

To the backside of  the center storage cabinet, (shown above earlier) in the center of the room,
I've set up a place to do photo shoots for my  shoppe.

The cabinet has a black background changeable with a vision board of fabric.
The decor also changes depending on what has to be photographed.

All the helpers are just steps away from each other throughout the room.

The shelves above my desk are functional and edged with lace trim.
Family pics bring joy to see each day.
I've used chalk board tags to label the wood boxes.
Easy to rename  when the contents change.

Here I've taken a vintage shoe mold in a high heel shape
and turned it into a pen and business card holder.
I found the blingy  dress shoe at the Thrift store which happened to fit perfectly.
Placed the shoe inside, added a few trims, feathers and complete.

This inspiration board by my desk is covered with fabric and here I place
beautiful cards  and postcards from friends.
(thank you so much)
Sometime it's all I need to turn and view from my computer to gather the joy!
I change this often with old and new cards I've received.

The desk blotter is made from toile fabric hemmed all around and then covered with
another clear desk blotter for a custom look.

The door to my desk storage is also covered with pretty music graphics
and I added a hand cut rose copied in a sepia tone.
All is decoupaged in place.

This desk area is also a comfy spot to take a break for a cup of tea.

These little tea tables are another pretty created in this space.

Some of my summer flower paintings for my easel change out.

Signs with roses above the door way.

Vintage glove boxes have been a specialty to design using vintage laces
and painted silk leaves in shades of whites and creams.
The roses are hand created using vintage doilies and ribbons.
The glove box holds lots of trims and doilies for creating.
I love to hunt for these on my junkin trips.

Baby shoes are another of my favorites to create with.

~~~A world to soar~~~~
I love to create book covers like this one using burlap,
lace, hand created flowers and my painted leaves.
I keep this book on my desk for short breaks to be inspired by quotes inside.
This dress form Claudette, was in my creative space for a time, but now lives in a guest bedroom.
She is designed with my hand painted antiqued background
and French graphics hand created with a sharpie pen.
She traded spaces with her smaller table top friend, Lacey.
Rag wreaths, lampshades and baskets are one of my specialties and I have this one on the room door.
It makes me smile each day that I enter this creating room.
Filled rag baskets hold vintage books and notes for pretty display.
Old framed art work hand painted and stenciled add some charm to a side wall.
One of my favorite creative space pieces
is this special and all time favorite bible verse sign.
I see this each day and it is a wonderful reminder.
It is displayed above the cabinet wall and I only have to look up to enjoy it.
One last look around.
Thank you for stopping by today.
another touch of aqua in this frame, a gift from a talented and dear friend.
thank you so much!
I have had such a wonderful time touring your studio today! Every little bit of it is so inspiring. Your organization is so wonderful and you have so much storage. It's all about storage when it comes to a work space isn't it? And you've made it functional AND beautiful! I'm sure in love with the little black cabinet that has the Eiffel Tower in white on it. Tres chic! And finally a use for that wooden shoe mold hubby bought for me years ago... I can hardly wait to find the right shoe for it!! (said Cinderella? lol) I like the aqua and white together. So peaceful and calming. Good for when you're looking for that "one thing" you absolutely KNOW you've got somewhere to complete a project!
Thanks for sharing all your clever and creative touches with us. I truly loved every moment of it!! Love to you and hubby! Edie
Good afternoon Celeste! I just got back from a poetry workshop that was sensational. HA! If you saw where I CREATE, you would laugh....I sit in a closet off of my "studio" parlor and now, I've got flying ants in here! Quite different from this gorgeous, open and organized space!
Your whites and blacks are a great contrast to keep things moving and grooving and wandering to become works of art. I love your organization, my goodness.....
What a fun party. I must make my rounds before supper, so I wish you a WONDERFUL SUNDAY! Anita
What a wonderful idea, sharing creative space! Your spaces are just lovely. And everything so beautifully organized...and I mean that in two ways (well organized AND organized with beauty in mind!) I have one of those painted wooden shoeshine boxes that I keep my acrylic paints in but it's rather overflowing....and all my art supplies are in the laundryroom and not organized in any way because I have no room for them in the house. Eventually I want to create a little area of shelves and boxes for them there. I have my quilting room which also acts as a guest room, and it is small and overflowing with fabric! :-) There's no room for a cutting table which is my most difficult problem in there, because the fabric is orderly and the desk holds my machine, but because of the bed, there's no floor space for a table. I have to cut on the desk, and am often bent over, which just kills my back. I saw the cutest pin someone sent me that had a woman's dream floorplan for a house. It was a small corner that held the livingroom, bathroom & kitchen and then about 80% of the rest of the house was open and labeled....sewing room. That's about right! :-)
Lovely post! Have a great week!
I am reading, and re-reading as I sit here this evening. Your creative space is so inspiring and incredible! My goodness, the well thought out plans to create this sophisticated, and at the same time cozy space is truly amazing.
So much detail, so much care and I can imagine the time spent here is truly magical in itself. Your creations truly come from a beautiful heart and spirit. This was such a treat for me!
Warmest of Hugs from you North Texas neighbor,
Jemma
I realize I'm late visiting, but I couldn't miss this opportunity to see your beautiful space. And what a beautiful space it is, too. So much detail and the photos are simply stunning, too. I can tell you like to stage, because your space is staged beautifully, including all the cans you used for storage of brushes and such. Your crocheted hanging unit puts my shoe holders to shame. Your place is spectacular.
Thanks for sharing your lovely craft space with us.
Celestina, I've always loved your creative space, with all the black and white dƩcor. Everything is so nice and organized in their own compartments. I loved the door knobs, so pretty. And I really liked the black dresser with the Eiffel tower. The "Go Confidently" quote is one of Jess' favorites. Everything looks great, and you have an inspiring place to dream, create, and enjoy.
love, ~Sheri
Happy creating! xo Deborah
This post was perfect! Dreamy, inspirational, organized and most important of all, oozing CREATIVITY! Kudos and thank you for the invite. Makes me want to go down to my old clay shop(hiding 30 years of clay, glaze, spills) and strip it to the walls and begin my creative life again!) Again, thank-you!
