Happy Memorial Day 2017

In Remembrance and honor
to those brave men and women who have served our country to keep us free
and to those that continue to sacrifice each and every day for America,
 we give our heartfelt thankfulness.

As we celebrate our nations hero's, let us give thanks for their military dedication and safety.
We can never be thankful enough to those that serve America,
but we can lift our prayers for them each and everyday.
When you see a military person, take a moment and say thank you.
The encouragement will honor them as they realize people care and remember.

My Father Joseph, fought for this country in WWII on Omaha Beach in Normandy France.
He used to say, "I wouldn't give you a nickle for my experiences, but, I wouldn't sell them for a million dollars either"

Words from a proud and glad to serve, American!
I dedicate this Memorial Day to him and the bravery he carried as he jumped off the ship and swam to land on Omaha Beach with his fellow soldiers.
God was with him that day as he ran forward to defend America.

When I saw the movie, Saving Private Ryan,
I realized for the first time, what he must have faced that day.
I thought, Wow Dad needs to see this movie.
Then I realized, he doesn't need to see this, He was there! It just gave me chills.

Whatever your long weekend plans, enjoy, be safe and be grateful!

In Remembrance
Happy Memorial Day!

Wonderful post- I can't imagine being on Omaha Beach that day in WWII. I love the quote from your Dad.
So many lives lost to all these wars. We must remember and honor all those who served and made the greatest sacrifice of all.

So very grateful and thankful for your father and his service and all the too many that fought for us to have our Freedom. Eating a hot dog and chips seems so simple but so many are not here with us to enjoy such a simple activity. Blessiings and Gratitude Sweet Celeste. What a handsome young soldier your dad made, Celestina! I can't even imagine what he must have gone thru. A few years ago while on a trip to Paris, we were told by a shop keeper that if it wasn't for us (Americans who came to France's aide during WWII), he would be speaking to us in German. We were really moved by his comment, to say the least!

My dad only shared a few of his WWII stories over the years. Like you it wasn't until I saw some of those movies that I realized what my dad truly experienced...especially been shot down in his plane several times. The thing that really gets me, is how young most of the boys were, I know my dad was only 17 when he enlisted. I still make my 17 year old check in whenever leaving the house! Happy Memorial Day!!

Oh my what a beautiful dedication to your brave Father, I can't even imagine living through all of that! All those men were amazing. My hubby was in Desert storm but thankfully he was safe and had to repair the planes, not be in the heat of the war. I think of all the families left behind too.
