French Inspired Keepsake Boxes

Welcome all week long to visit Etsy Cottage Style Blog and the many creative happenings from participants studios called

 

 Welcome to the Cottage Craft Room.

I've also had some fun finishing altered art keepsake boxes with a little French inspiration.

 

 Each has a bit of Paris chic style with Eiffel Tower, crown, Fleur Di Li's and French postage.

 

 All are accented with my pink cottage roses.

Made from wood and 4" square,

 

 they have glass like knobs on the lid and perfect to hold

 

sweet little treasures,

 

jewelry or a special gift.

Each a bit different

 

with accents in aqua,

 

soft gray and chic black.

And, of course, pink roses!

 

This vintage treasure was so much fun to redesign

 

I shared it last week, created when it was snowing.

 

 What a difference a week makes.

 

We are now warmed up and tomorrow predicted to be in the

 

upper 70's.

 

All these little pretties are now filling the shelves in my etsy shoppe.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

Dear Mom,
As we celebrate another Mother's Day without you, I remember our last time together, twelve years ago when we all had dinner together at our home on that precious Sunday for Mother's Day.

 You left us 4 months later to live in your heavenly home. While I still know the pain of that sad time, I find great joy in the knowledge you are in a much better place with our Lord.

Your pink roses planted outside your bedroom window here at my home, are doing beautiful. Full and gorgeous just the way you last saw them. I remember how much fun I had planting that pretty climber just for you when you came to live with us. It remains a blessing to me each and everyday as I view the beauty of this hardy vine.

This day as always, seems the perfect time to say thank you for having been in my life, although to short a time. Your teachings remain with me each and every day as I draw from those learning's in my daily life. Your loving ways, generous heart and gentle spirit will always be alive in my world. Always wise and helpful, was just your way. On nearly any subject I remember your words as my guide, but most of all, I hold dear your love for God and the example you set for me during my growing years. Memories today I keep close in heart and mind.

Thank you for being my mother. I miss you beyond words and I love you forever. Celestina Marie

Happy Mother's Day to all.

Inspiration, In a Shell

By the sea, by the sea! Oh I so enjoyed to design and paint these beautiful large oyster shells last summer. I love beach cottage decor and when mixed with pink roses, it's all dreamy.





Oh how I wish to drift away in this sail boat and return to this rose cottage by the sea. Where roses are planted and the water so blue. Where days are lazy and the nights full of stars that twinkle off the water.


Are these days close by? I hope they are as I prepare to create new shells soon.
Perhaps roses in pink like they are floating on the water. Another cottage to spend summer days or a sail boat to drift off with dreams of days gone by.

With my garden trying to wake from it's winter slumber, I create and plan to work the dirt soon and feel the warm earth in my hands letting the inspiration guide my designs.

I will do both as I swing my paint brush and continue to create.

~~HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY and SPRING GIVEAWAY~~

in honor of Springtime and Mother's Day Sunday May 9th 2010.

Several years ago when my Mother was living with me, and I was caring for her while sick, I planted a climbing Pink Rose outside her bedroom window for her to enjoy. Pink roses were her very favorite and these gorgeous blooms made her so happy. Since Mom's passing the roses have continually bloomed each Spring and become prettier as time goes on. Not long after I planted this climber, I painted a design I named Mother's Rose from the inspirations of the vine itself, old graphics and the many roses mom had grown over the years. So in honor of Mother's Day coming I am giving away a print copy of that original work arriving to the winner oval matted in light off white and ready to frame with any 11" X 14" frame.


In addition to my print I am including a copy of the book, Delight in the Details by Lisa M. Pace. It is a gorgeous book with paper tag and card designs you will just love, using mixed media and accents.

Last week was very busy, and along the way I have reorganized my store room and redesigned another area of our backyard landscape with my best guy. Tired, but having fun!! It's back to the studio for me and lots of creating going on. Hope to see you again soon to share more creations.
